How many times in your life have you had to borrow something? Usually, we borrow simple things like a book, chair or a jacket. But what about borrowing land to build an emergency shelter for your family. Or a table and chairs for your family to eat their first hot meal in who knows how long. Things like this are everyday realities for some families in Guatemala. His Hands International and our team of servants who all wear our hearts on our sleeves, are always there to help in Jesus’ name however we can. Sometimes someone may just need an ear to listen or a shoulder to cry on. Other times, it may be to help build a shelter for a family and provide a hot meal in a desperate time of need.
Did you know that even Jesus had to borrow. When Jesus was born, HE had to borrow a stable, and when Jesus died for our sins by being crucified on the cross of Calvary, HE had to borrow a tomb for HIS body to be laid in. Think about this for a minute. When you borrow something, it is normally for a short period of time. Aren’t you glad that Jesus only had to borrow the tomb?! HE knew that HE would conquer sin and the grave, thus the borrowed tomb. Just like our Earthly homes whether made from wood, concrete, or simple pieces of limbs, plastic, and tin, they are all borrowed from this Earth for but a vapor of time.
Our real homes are meant to be in heaven with Jesus one day, if we know HIM as our Lord. I always tell folks it is as simple as ABC to know that you also have a home in Heaven.
A stands for Admit you are a sinner.
All have sinned and come short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23)
A sinner needs to acknowledge that they have sinned.
B stands for Believe that Jesus died for your sins, rose from the dead and that you trust in HIM alone for your salvation, committing your life to HIS service.
Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved. (Acts 16:31)
All Jesus asks us to do to receive salvation is to believe in Him.
C stands for Confess your sins.
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive our sins. (1 John 1:9)
We only need to tell Jesus that we have sinned and ask for forgiveness. Then He will forgive us, no matter what sins we have committed.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that HE gave HIS only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in HIM should not perish, but have everlasting life. Whosoever is you my friend reading this now. God had you land on this page so that you have an opportunity to find the joy and peace that comes from salvation. Please take a moment and search your heart. If you have never Admitted that you’re a sinner, and Believe that Jesus died for your sins, then Confess you sins, and HE WILL FORGIVE YOU!
In the beginning of September, we had a family come to our Project Coordinator who works and lives in the village looking for shelter. Due to an avalanche of circumstances that all culminated due to the pandemic, and economic conditions globally, this family of 8 found themselves homeless with nowhere else to go. Together as a team we found someone willing to let them build a temporary shelter on their land and worked together to help this family.
What you see in the initial photos above are this families total worldly possessions. We learned the family had nothing to eat but bananas for days so again our team got together and provided a table, chairs, and a hot meal for this family. We also provided the plastic and tin for the roof. The bed you see is the only bed for this entire family. If you ever have a bad night’s sleep or complain about not having anything to eat, although your pantry is full, and you have a bed for each person of your family, stop and count your blessings, because you are BLESSED!
We are a faith-based ministry and God always provides our needs, but I would not be a very good leader if I don’t remind folks to support us financially once and awhile. To do what we do, takes a lot of prayers, a lot of faith, a lot of tears of compassion, and yes, money. Your prayers are the most important, always! We also need faithful givers who support us on a regular monthly basis. Money is just the tool that we use to get things done in Jesus’ name. Will you consider adding us to your prayer list and committing to support us on a regular basis? Financial support can be mailed to His Hands International 1874 Daniels Road Boydton, VA 23917 or through our website www.hishands.org. On behalf of all the families we are able to help, Thank You and God Bless!
