We have a huge mess at the moment here on our campus in Guatemala. But the huge mess means huge progress. We have had to begin construction early for the septic for the entire campus due to a failed bio-digester. American style septic systems are not cheap, and one large enough to handle an entire campus has to be big. This one is approximately 20′ square and about 10′ deep and will ensure we do not have to worry about wastewater. As this was not planned in the budget, we are asking folks to help us finish it. We need about $1500 to finish it all up and put the dirt back in the ground and level everything back out.
Because land and space are precious and valuable, instead of just having a huge hunk of concrete sticking out of the ground, we are building a storage shed on top of the tank that will house all of our outdoor garden tools and construction material, and future greenhouse supplies. This will free our patio back up for activities with the children and community.
We have also had to install security fencing to close our property back off in anticipation for all the construction to keep everyone safe. Our land was also being used as a cut through for vehicles and folks not respecting our property and throwing out their trash. Now we have control of the vehicles that enter are only here for the clinic or for other business with us. This helps to enhance the security of our campus. The next phase of construction will finish building the rest of the security fencing.
This level ground will eventually be our Guatemala home, mission home, medical lab, bulk storage and prep room for mission teams, along with more classroom space.
We are also excited about another project we have started ahead of schedule and are slowly working on the first of 4 buildings. It will be our business center and technology center school to develop business skills that will lead to future employment. This construction project is currently being funded by Lake Country Internet and Guat Sat Communications; internet companies owned by The Varner Family. The idea behind starting Guat Sat Communications here in Guatemala, was to provide a high-quality internet service at an affordable price, provide training and employment for those students in our programs, and eventually provide another source of income for the ministry to do even more things here in Guatemala, helping to point folks to Christ.
As I have said in the past, each vision God gives, He provides! When you dare to dream big, and listen for that still small voice, you then step out in faith, God provides, give HIM the glory, and dream bigger! When you do, your dreams become realities when God is at the center.
If you like what you see, please help with a small monthly gift of any size. Little can do a lot when God is at the center, and it is all for HIS Glory!
