As I comb through my direct news feeds from Guatemala my heart breaks at the sight of the many bodies of children who were killed from the blast, fall out, or just could not breath. Many children their skin boiled off their little bodies from the intense heat, photos to graphic to repost. Others, their little feet burned and bloodied. This later is very personal to me. 12 years ago, God inspired our Christmas Shoes Project through a cute little barefoot 5 year old girl, who through miraculous circumstances became our daughter 7 years later, which is a whole other story. God spoke to me through this child and said put shoes on her feet and others like her. And for the last 12 years we have placed thousands of shoes on precious feet, to many to remember. Unfortunately, we have not even begun to make a dent. But we do what we can, with what we have available at the time.
Our team in Guatemala is collecting water, food, clothing, medical supplies, and other needed goods. We have some shoes available in our supplies but not a lot. We are asking for donations to help us put shoes on every child in this disaster region. We have a direct relationship with a wholesale shoe manufacturer in Guatemala named Chicote, these are similar to the popular Croc brand in the US. We can purchase these for less than $5/pair! Please help us by making a donation so our team can purchase the needed shoes and distribute to children and families in need.
