Tabbs Creek Baptist Church VBS Director, Kellie Harden, set a goal of collecting 50 pairs of shoes for our Christmas Shoes Project. Kellie engaged the children and adults by having a bare foot walk, that took them on a journey of different surfaces, some smooth and soft, others rough and rocky, as a demonstration of what it might be like not to have shoes.
The first night of VBS their goal was met! And as the week continued, the shoes kept coming. By closing night on Friday, 114 pairs of new tennis shoes were collected for the children in Guatemala!
But the blessing did not stop there. In addition to the shoes, the offerings collected were going to help repair wells in Guatemala and bring clean water to a small village. All together from VBS and an additional offering from TCBC, Pastor Stan Jenkins presented a check for $4100 to David Varner! What an awesome God we serve! Now we can repair two wells and bring clean water to a very poor village, just in time before the rainy season. But our work does not stop there. We still have one more to repair and then build a small maintenance fund for them.
Again, a great big thank you to Tabbs Creek Baptist Church and Flat River Baptist Association for helping us be the hands and feet of Jesus in Guatemala!
We are HIS hands, to do HIS work, to bring HIM the Glory!
