So many of us go through our day to day routines and not give a second thought to where our water comes from. In fact you don’t even question, if I turn on the faucet will water come out? This is part of our lives in the United States of America that we don’t think about. We are so blessed! But are you truly thankful for something you don’t even think about, or put any effort into receiving?
In many countries all over the world, part of the daily routine is finding a water source, and then bringing just enough water back home for that day. Sometimes that source is not clean or even safe to drink. Although it appears clear, it is full of bacteria that makes them sick. You may be thinking, why would anyone drink water that is dirty that will make them sick? Our bodies need water to survive, so the risk of parasites and sickness over death, wins every time.
Can you imagine for a few minutes that you have no running water in your home, no well or public water source, and no possible way to earn enough money to even consider the cost of having your own well? You have to walk sometimes a great distance with your buckets to a water source, that you hope and pray will have water today. In Guatemala, this is a reality all over the country.
His Hands International is doing our small part, to help provide water in Jesus name, through our Living Waters Projects. Right now in one community of Los Limones, Gualan, the daily routine that I just described is part of their daily lives. In the photo above you see the ladies with their children and buckets, waiting for some water to flow from a water source that is not reliable, and only available a few hours each day.
Currently all of our wells are hand dug which takes an enormous amount of time and money to complete. The work is very hard and dangerous. Praise God our well diggers have not had any incidents. Please keep them in your prayers as we begin another project in this community to help bring water in Jesus name! This will be our 5th well that God has provided through generous donors.
As we move forward, we want to have the ability to provide more wells in more areas of Guatemala, and do it at a quicker, and more economical pace. It has been a dream and a vision for many years to purchase our own portable drilling rig. It was, and is one of our goals we set for this year. With a well drilling rig, we can drill faster, safer, and go deeper to provide even more water for these communities, at a lower cost per well.
Above is a fully loaded, portable well drilling rig which can be towed into the remotest region to provide a clean water source. With the above rig we can go to depths of 400 feet! Once purchased and shipped to Guatemala this will cut the cost of each well drastically, and speed up the process tremendously! We are looking to raise between $95,000 and $125,000 to purchase this rig and enough materials to do 10 wells by the end of 2019.
Will you help us? Are you truly thankful for your water source that is at your fingertips 24/7? Please visit the donation tab on our web site to see how you can give, and help us provide Living Water in the name of Jesus!
Matthew 10:40-43 40 “Whoever receives you receives me, and whoever receives me receives him who sent me. 41 The one who receives a prophet because he is a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward, and the one who receives a righteous person because he is a righteous person will receive a righteous person’s reward. 42 And whoever gives one of these little ones even a cup of cold water because he is a disciple, truly, I say to you, he will by no means lose his reward.”
